Complete All-MIAC Women's Tennis Teams
WINONA, Minn. — It was the perfect ending to the perfect season for Saint Mary's University's
Rebecca Snyder (Eden Prairie, Minn.).
Snyder, who did not lose a dual-meet match at No. 2 singles for the Cardinal women's tennis team all season, was named to the All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Singles and Doubles Teams, it was announced Thursday.
In her first collegiate season, Snyder compiled a perfect 11-0 record — with all 11 wins coming at No. 2. Snyder, who helped SMU to a 3-7 record in conference play, also posted a 9-3 doubles record.
The 2009 Chris Evert Award was given to St. Catherine senior Susie Hallquist. The award annually recognizes a senior tennis student-athlete with outstanding sportsmanship and exemplary athletic, academic, and humanitarian accomplishments.
St. Olaf's Scott Nesbit was honored with the 2009 MIAC Women's Tennis Coach of the Year award after leading the Oles to a third place finish in the MIAC with an 8-2 record.
As part of a conference-wide sportsmanship initiative, the MIAC announced the third annual All-MIAC Sportsmanship team for women's tennis. SMU's
Toni Troumbly (Bovey, Minn.) was named as the Cardinals' representative on the team. Members of the All-MIAC Sportsmanship team are selected by their coaches and teammates as individuals who demonstrate ideals of positive sportsmanship both on and off the field of competition.
