WINONA, Minn. — It's Monday morning, and time to take one final look back at the highlights of the week that was — by the numbers.
7: The Cardinal fastpitch softball team launched a home run in both of its games during last Wednesday's sweep of Concordia. The Cardinals have now hit seven round-trippers in their last four games — led by
Alex Raske (Chicago, Ill.), who has hit three HRs in that four-game span.
8: The SMU fastpitch softball team was ranked eighth in the NCAA's first Midwest Regional rankings.
9: Anna Ramboldt (Goodhue, Minn.) and
Hailey Ohl have both been swinging a hot bat of late for the SMU fastpitch softball team. Ohl went 6-for-9 in the Cardinals' MIAC sweep of Concordia last Wednesday, while Ramboldt was 4-for-8. The two have each collected nine hits in SMU's last four games combined.
13: Deanne Webber (Reedsburg, Wis.) pushed her SMU women's tennis team-leading singles win total to 13 with three straight victories against Concordia, UW-River Falls and UW-Stout last the weekend. The Cardinal senior enters the final week of the regular season riding a five-match winning streak.
13: The SMU men's tennis team picked up its 13th nonconference win of the season last Saturday, blanking North Central 9-0. The Cardinals completed their 2013 nonconference schedule with a 13-1 mark.
16: Paige Carter (Rosemount, Minn.) scored one of the SMU fastpitch softball team's eight runs in Game 2 vs. the Cobbers last Wednesday and has now scored a team-leading 29 runs. Carter has scored at least one run in 16 of the team's 21 games this season.
17: Heading into Wednesday's scheduled conference doubleheader at Saint John's, the Saint Mary's University baseball team has not played a game in 17 days, dating back to an April 7 MIAC twinbill against St. Thomas. During that span, the Cardinals have had 14 postponements or reschedules.
19: Collin Kaczorowski (Suamico, Wis.) picked up a pair of singles wins in the SMU men's tennis team's victories over Concordia and North Central last Saturday, giving the freshman 19 singles wins this season. Kaczorowski's 19 wins equals the school's single-season record — set by Mark Leeder in 2005 and matched by Tyler Stevenson a year later. Kaczorowski will have the opportunity to set the school's single-season record when the Cardinals close out the regular season against Macalester next Saturday.
.355: Thanks in part to their 29 hits in 69 at-bats vs. Concordia (.440), the Cardinal fastpitch softball team pushed its team batting average to .355 — led by
Nat Boissiere (Plymouth, Minn. / .508),
Paige Carter (Rosemount, Minn. / .437) and
Alex Raske (Chicago, Ill. / .414).
11:47.49: Katie Stolz (Forest Lake, Minn.) shaved nearly 25 seconds off her own school record, clocking a time of 11:47.49 in placing fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase for the SMU women's track and field team at last Sunday's UW-La Crosse Phil Esten Challenge.
