Saint Mary's University of Minnesota’s Athletic Department supports the University mission by providing student-athletes with the opportunity to succeed in the class room and in athletic competition. We emphasize academic integrity, social responsibility, and athletic excellence while adhering to the philosophies and ethical standards of the NCAA, the MIAC, and Saint Mary's University.
We see athletics as a dynamic vehicle for educating students in developing lifelong skills in the areas of learning, leadership, sportsmanship, fair play and accountability. We strive to positively impact the physical, emotional and social welfare of each student athlete. We participate in these activities with respect and equitable treatment of all community members.
The objectives of the SMU athletic department are:
• To promote, within the athletic department, the core values of the Saint Mary’s Community.
• To produce successful graduates, empowering them to ethical lives of service and leadership
• To produce championship caliber teams and individuals
• To compete with respect, integrity, and sportsmanship
• To maintain and enhance relationships between Saint Mary’s University and its alumni.
We strive, through an intense commitment to teaching and coaching, to serve students, Saint Mary’s University, and the community.
