ST. PAUL, Minn.  — On Friday, the Saint Mary's University men's swimming and diving team posted a dual-meet victory over Macalester — the Cardinals' third straight win over the Scots.

Saturday afternoon, the Cardinals made it a weekend sweep of the host Scots, this time at the Macalester Invitational. In fact, the only team in the four-team field to get the best of the Cardinals was St. Thomas, as SMU swam to a second-place finish, picking up 265 points, well back of the Tommies' 567 winning total.

The SMU women weren't quite as fortunate, as the Cardinals struggled to a sixth-place showing in the seven-team field, managing just 96 points. St. Thomas made it a clean sweep with a 442 total to win the women's event, edging Concordia by 32 points.

John Fox (Winona, Minn.) was his usual dominating self, picking up first-place finishes in the 100 and 200 breaststroke, while also placing third in the 50 freestyle. Fox clocked a meet-record time of 1:00.15 to win the 100 breast, while adding a winning time of 2:22.29 in the 200 and a third-place effort of 22.47 in the 50 freestyle.

Matthew Ramey (Centennial, Colo.) also had a busy day for the Cardinals, placing second in the 200 IM (2:13.11) and the 500 freestyle (5:15.36), while also placing sixth in the 100 backstroke (1:02.42). Tim Tysk (St. Paul, Minn.) chipped in thirds in the 100 freestyle (50.65) and the 100 butterfly (57.87), while Andrew Noyes (Eden Prairie, Minn.) was third in both the one-meter (93.70) and three-meter (118.00) diving competitions, and Neil Heacox (San Diego, Calif.) was third in the 200 IM (2:14.67).

Liz Flynn (Mahtomedi, Minn.) led the Cardinal women's charge, placing fourth in both the one-meter (159.15) and three-meter (160.00) diving competitions, while Jennifer Salzman (Hilo, Hawaii) was eighth in the 10 butterfly (1:09.79) and Nikki Farmer (Medford, Wis.) was ninth in the 200 backstroke (2:29.23).
