SMU Cardinal Notes: With Saturday's loss to the league-leading Cobbers, the Cardinals have now dropped two straight, both by shutout. … SMU GK Mariana Sanchez (Puebla, Mexico), who finished with 10 saves against the Cobbers Saturday, has now stopped 56 of the 67 shots she's faced this year. The senior goalkeeper enters today's game boasting a 1.03 goals-against-average and an .844 save percentage. … Sanchez's four shutouts are a single-season career high and give the SMU senior 10 shutouts for her four-year career. … Dana Winkler (Lake Geneva, Wis.) netted the game's lone goal in last Saturday's 1-0 victory over St. Catherine, giving the SMU senior a career-high three goals this season. In fact, Winkler's three goals this season equal her goal total for her first three seasons as a Cardinal combined. … Amy Sibik (Onalaska, Wis.) picked up her third assist of the season on Winkler's goal and now leads the team in goals (10) and points (23). … Sibik's 10 goals are two shy of the career-high 12 goals she scored as a freshman, and give her 30 for her three-year career — ranking the SMU junior seventh all-time. … Sibik, who led the team in scoring in each of her first two seasons — and owns seven career multiple-goal games — is just three points shy of her career-best 26 points, recorded during the 2007 season. … Caitlyn Cole (Larsen, Wis.) holds the team lead in assists with five. … SMU's 2-1 loss to Macalester on Sept. 22 was the Cardinals' second overtime game of the season. SMU is still looking for its first overtime win since a 1-0 win over St. Catherine on Sept. 13, 2007, going 0-2-3 in five OT games since then. … SMU has only allowed three goals in the first half this season.
Ripon Red hawk Notes: The Red Hawks enter today's game on the heels of a streak-snapping 1-0 victory over St. Norbert … Ripon has been held to one goal or less in six of their eight losses and have been shut out three times. … Jessica Martzahl scored the game's only goal in Saturday's win over the Green Knights. … Rachel Martzahl and Aimee Prudhomme have accounted for six of the team's 11 goals this season, as both boast a team-high three goals.
