Will Wright (Chicago, Ill.) and
Lukas Holland (La Crosse, Wis.) were both named to the All-MIAC First Team a year ago. Wright, an honorable-mention All-MIAC and All-First Year Team selection as a freshman, tossed in a team-best 127 field goals en route to his team-leading 18.0 ppg average. Holland, meanwhile, also averaged in double figures, scoring 15.7 ppg in 20 league games. … Holland has started all 49 games during his first two years as a Cardinal. … Wright boasted the team's top seven offensive performances of the season in 2008-09 — including a season- and career-best 41 points vs. MacMurray on Nov. 22. He scored 20 or more points 10 times and netted 10 or more points in 23 of the Cardinals' 25 games last season. In his two seasons as a Cardinal, Wright has scored in double figures in 45 of his 50 collegiate games. … Wright and Holland closed out the season as the team's scoring leaders, with Wright boasting a team-best 18.8 ppg average, while Holland was at 15.6 ppg. Wright's 18.8 ppg average was the highest by a Cardinal since Donald Jordan averaged 24.5 ppg during the 1994-95 season. … As a team, the Cardinals ranked No. 1 in the MIAC in free throws made (322), free throws attempted (443) and offensive rebounds (227). … The Cardinals' 70-65 win over Macalester on Jan. 21 was their first overtime game since the 2002-03 season, when SMU lost to UST 65-62. SMU's last overtime win came on Dec. 6, 2000, when the Cardinals posted an 80-70 win over St. Olaf.
University of Dubuque Spartan Notes: The Spartans are coming off a 14-12 season a year ago. They lost to Wartburg 87-68 in the quarterfinals of the IIAC Tournament. … Eleven of the Spartans' 14 wins last season came at home, where UD was 11-3. … UD boasted three players who averaged in double figures a year ago, led by Taylor Blum, who tossed in 389 points (15.0 ppg). Michael Okpalaeze (12.1 ppg) and Josh Bellaire (11.6 ppg) were the other two. … Blum also led the team in 3-pointers (52), while Demarvus Russell was second with 42. The duo accounted for 94 of the team's 154 treys a year ago. … Bellaire and Blum were 1-2 on the team in assists last season, dishing out 61 and 57 assists, respectively, while Michael Peek is the team's top returning rebounder, averaging 4.5 rpg in 26 contests last season. … After opening the season with 10 wins in their first 13 games, the Spartans went 4-9 over the last 13, including losses in four of their last five games.
