WINONA, Minn. – The Saint Mary's University men's hockey team, coming off a 5-1 loss at Hamline Friday, finally — after seven straight road games — gets to open its home season Saturday, playing host to the Pipers in a 7 p.m. Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rematch at the SMU Ice Arena.

December 5, 2008: The Cardinals gave up back-to-back goals less than 20 seconds apart midway through the first period and never recovered Friday evening, falling to Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference defending regular-season champion Hamline 4-2 in a conference game at the SMU Ice Arena.

December 6, 2008: Mike Glaesmer (Traverse City, Mich.) recorded his first collegiate four-goal game, but Glaesmer's best just wasn't good enough, as the Pipers got a goal from Brian Arrigoni 1:21 into overtime, as Hamline escaped with a 7-6 overtime victory to complete a sweep of the teams' two-game conference series in St. Paul, Minn.

Saint Mary's Cardinal Notes: After seven straight road games, the Cardinals will be home for the first time this season Saturday against Hamline. It will be the only home game of the first semester for SMU, which travels to UW-River Falls on Dec. 4 in its final game before the Christmas break. … Anthony Bohn (Spring Hill, Fla.) scored the Cardinals' lone goal in Friday's loss at Hamline. … Blake Zemaitis (Mount Prospect, Ill.) assisted on Bohn's goal for his first collegiate point. … SMU's 3-1 win over Concordia last Saturday snapped the Cardinals' season-opening five-game winning streak. … After being held without a goal in the Cardinals' first four games, Eric Tenvoorde (St. Cloud, Minn.) scored once in each of SMU's games vs. Concordia last weekend. … Chase Marshall (Maple Grove, Minn.) scored his first collegiate goal vs. the Cobbers last Saturday. … Tenvoorde, Morgan Shepherd (Brainerd, Minn.) and Mike Glaesmer (Traverse City, Mich.) share the team lead in goals (2), while Bohn leads the team in assists (4) and points (6). … Jason Horstman (Faribault, Minn.) stopped 42 shots vs. the Cobbers Saturday to record his first collegiate victory.
