Central Invitational Results

PELLA, Iowa — It was the “last chance” for the Saint Mary’s University track and field teams to tune up before next weekend’s Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships — and Teri Heinzen (Marshfield, Wis.) certainly made the most of it.

Heinzen collected a pair of first-place finishes — winning both the 100 (12.82) and 200 (26.08) — to fuel the Cardinals’ performance at Friday’s Central Invitational.

And the junior barely missed completing the triple, placing second in the long jump with a leap of 5.04 meters. Only Cailtlin Wilson of Central was better, winning the event in 5.08 meters.

Nicole Reynard chipped in fourth-place showing in the javelin (25.75), while Kevin Hein (Zumbro Falls, Minn.) led the way for the Cardinal men, placing third in the discus (43.54 meters) and eighth in the shot put (11.75 meters). Cole Resleff (Stewartville, Minn.) was third in the high jump (1.73 meters), while Jared Brandenburg (Independence, Wis.) clocked a fifth-place time of 4:04.05 in the 1,500 and Ryan Wockenfuss (New London, Wis.) added a fifth in the javelin (44.13).
