ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University volleyball team, coming off a 22-10 season and a trip to the NCAA Division III regional semifinals, landed the fourth spot in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, it was announced Friday.
St. Thomas collected 9 of the 12 first-places votes to earn the top spot in the coaches poll, while St. Olaf earned the other three first-place votes, while Saint Benedict, Saint Mary's and Concordia rounded out the top five.
The Cardinals, who are currently ranked No. 24 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Preseason Poll, kick off their 2010 season on Wednesday, playing host to Viterbo in a 7 p.m. nonconference match at the SMU Gym.
