NORTHFIELD, Minn.  — The Saint Mary's University men's and women's cross country teams are back in action on Saturday, traveling to St. Olaf for the NCAA Division III Central Regional.

SMU at 2011 NCAA Central Regional:
David Feather (Oak Creek, Wis.), coming off a 22nd-place finish in his final MIAC Championships with an eight-kilometer time of 26:24, closed out his illustrious career with a team-best time of 26:55, leading the Cardinal men to a 16th-place team finish. Katie Stolz (Forest Lake, Minn.), meanwhile, picked up right where she left off at her first conference championships — where she toured the 6K course in 24:53 — as the SMU freshman stopped the clocked in a career-best 24:35 to fuel SMU's 23rd-place effort | Men's Results | Women's Results

The Cardinals' Last Action:
Aaron Haley earned First-Team All-MIAC honors, while Jake Traxler (Le Center, Minn.) and Peter Borash (Bowlus, Minn.) were both honorable-mention picks after their performances in leading the SMU men to a seventh-place finish at the MIAC Championships on Oct. 27 at Como Park Golf Course. Katie Stolz (Forest Lake, Minn.) led the way for the Cardinal women at the conference championships, as the sophomore placed 41st overall with a six-kilometer time of 23:57 to help SMU to a 12th-place showing.

Aaron Haley (Plainview, Minn.), who set the school's eight-kilometer record with a time of 26:00 at the Jim Drews Invitational on Oct. 13, narrowly missed rewriting the record books again at the MIAC Championships, clocking a time of 26:03 to finish 13th overall. … Jake Traxler (Le Center, Minn.) and Peter Borash (Bowlus, Minn.) were right on Haley's heels, stopping the clock in 26:18 and 26:21 to place 17th and 18th, respectively. … The performances of Haley, Traxler and Borash marked the first time in coach Ward Berndt's eight-year tenure that the Cardinals have had three runners in the top 20 at the conference championships. … Along with the efforts of Haley, Traxler and Borash at the MIAC Championsihps, the Cardinals also got a 32nd-place showing from John Soucheray (Woodbury, Minn.), who stopped the clock in 26:52, while Jase Pater (Adrian, Minn. / 62nd, 27:35), Gabe Thiel (Berlin, Wis. / 66th, 27:43) and Colin Sheehan (Austin, Minn. / 67th, 28:00) rounded out SMU's top seven. … Katie Stolz (Forest Lake, Minn.) led the way for the Cardinal women, as the sophomore placed 41st overall with a six-kilometer time of 23:57. … Katherine Mockler (Dubuque, Iowa) was the second Cardinal across the finish line at the MIAC, stopping the clock in 24:50, followed by Kristen Thelen (Rochester, Minn. / 25:00), Shauna Stephens (Norwood, Minn. / 25:25), Amy Spitzmueller (New Brighton, Minn. / 25:28), Allie Thiel (Burr Ridge, Ill. / 25:38) and Beth Scott (Rochester, Minn. / 25:49). … Haley has now been the top finisher for the Cardinals in each of their last three events — while the trio of Haley, Traxler and Borash have been SMU's top three runners in each of SMU's five meets this season. … The SMU men posted its first-ever 1-2-3 individual finish in winning the SMU No-Limit Invitational on Sept. 28. It was also the first time in the event's history that the Cardinals have finished first as a team.
