JORDAN, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University of Minnesota women's golf team kicks off a busy week on Thursday, squaring off in a dual against Bethany Lutheran at Ridges of Sand Creek, before heading to Centennial Oaks GC in Waverly, Iowa, Saturday and Sunday to participate in the Wartburg Invitational.

After recording a season-best team score of 389 during the final round of the 54-hole MIAC Championships a year ago, the Cardinals bettered that marked by 12 strokes, shooting a 377 in their season-opening dual-match loss to Macalester last Friday. … Jennie Marx (Austin, Minn.) carded a career-best 90 to lead Saint Mary's in its dual against Macalester. Marx's previous career best, a 92, came during the third round of the MIAC Championships last season. … Four of Marx's five best collegiate rounds have come during her two appearances at the MIAC Championships. … Madison Gately (Glenview, Ill.) added a 93 against the Scots, while Kortney Wobbe (Wabasha, Minn.) and Paula Avila (Weslaco, Texas) chipped in 97s and Tiarra Thompson (Jonesboro, Ga.) finished with a 108. Kaitlin Kling (LeRoy, Minn.) and Kelsey Stenzel (Wabasha, Minn.), competing as individuals, finished with rounds of 91 and 101, respectively.
