Beiersdorf leads Cardinals' charge in 3-0 win

WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University of Minnesota men's soccer team picked the perfect opportunity to break out of its offensive funk.

After scoring just two goals in its last three games, the Cardinals erupted for three goals—including two by Chris Beiersdorf (Arlington Heights, Ill.)—in handing Martin Luther a 3-0 nonconference setback Wednesday evening at Ochrymowycz Field.

The Cardinals, who snapped a three-game losing streak with the victory, got on the board in the game's 24th minute, as Blake Dimock (Burlington, Wash.) took a feed from Chris Trussel (Wenatchee, Wash.) and beat Martin Luther goalkeeper Caleb King for his second goal of the season.

Saint Mary's would maintain that one-goal advantage into the second half, when Beiersdorf too over the Cardinals' offensive reins.

The Cardinal freshman scored his second goal of the year at 75:55, off an assist from Andrew Jaworski (Racine, Wis.), then added goal No. 3 of his collegiate career less than three minutes late to ice the Saint Mary's victory.

Nate Levy (Byron, Minn.) made two saves during his 78 minutes of work in goal for Saint Mary's, while Alberto Centeno (Elk Grove Village, Ill.) stopped the lone Knight shot he faced in relief. King recorded 12 saves in goal in the losing effort for Martin Luther.

The Cardinals (5-8-2 overall) return to Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on Saturday, traveling to St. Paul, Minn., for a 1 p.m. conference showdown with St. Thomas.
