Kaitlin Kling (LeRoy, Minn.) proved to be the model of consistency for the Saint Mary's University of Minnesota women's golf team over the weekend.
The Cardinal sophomore fired back-to-back rounds of 85 in leading Saint Mary's to an 11th-place finish at the 36-hole Saint Benedict Invitational at Blackberry Ridge.
Madison Gately (Glenview, Ill.), who shot a team-best 88 in Saint Mary's season-opening dual-meet loss to Macalester, whittled six shots off her opening-round 93 to finish with a 180 total (93-87), while
Haley Jung (Monticello, Minn.) knocked nine shots off her first-round 96, equaling Gately's Day 2 87 for a 183 two-day total.
Tiarra Thompson (Jonesboro, Ga. / 100-106—206) and
Michaela Heuckendorf (Plymouth, Minn. / 128-106—234) rounded out the Cardinals' top five.
Saint Mary's is back in action next weekend, heading to Centennial Oaks Golf Course in Waverly, Iowa, to take part in the 36-hole Wartburg Invitational.
