NEW BERLIN, Wis. — The Saint Mary's University of Minnesota men's tennis team kicked off a busy nonconference weekend in impressive fashion on Friday, cruising to an 8-1 victory over Carroll at the Moorland Park Tennis Center.
The Cardinals, who will play four matches in a three-day span, got things rolling with three straight doubles victories.
Brenden Amiotte (Rapid City, S.D.) and
Collin Kaczorowski (Suamico, Wis.) breezed to an 8-1 win at No. 1, while
Warren Lawrenz (Rochester, Minn.)-
Alex Holm (Red Wing, Minn.) were 8-4 winners at No. 2, and Grett Giesen (Cato, Wis.)-
Alex Zuzek (Hastings, Minn.) added a 9-8 win at No. 3.
Saint Mary's then completed the win with singles wins at Nos. 2-6—including three-set victories by Holm and
Garen Merritt (Sioux Falls, S.D.) at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.
The Cardinals (2-1 overall) are right back in action at the Moorland Park Tennis Center on Saturday, squaring off against Concordia (Wis.) at 8:30 a.m. and then facing Carthage at 12:30 p.m.
