D3hockey.com All-Region Teams
WINONA, Minn. — On the ice,
Martin Gruse (Trenton, Mich.) closed out his junior year for the Saint Mary's University of Minnesota men's hockey team on Feb. 13.
Gruse's post-season season, however, is still going strong.
The Cardinals' leading scorer during the 2015-16 season, added another piece of hardware to his growing collection on Thursday, as Gruse was named a Third-Team All-West Region by D3hockey.com.
Gruse was one of four players from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference—joining Hamline's Charlie Adams (First-Team), Brandon Zurn (Second-Team), and Mitch Hall (Third-Team)—named to one of the three All-West Region teams, selected by the D3hockey.com editorial staff, with input from sports information directors from around the country.
Gruse, coming off a career season in 2014-15—in which he earned First-Team All-MIAC and Second-Team All-American honors—was once again a goalie's worst nightmare this past season, as the junior racked up 14 goals and added 17 assists for a team-best 31 points. An All-MIAC First-Teamer for the second straight season, Gruse finished the year with three multiple-goal games and his third career four-point night.
Those selected to one of the three West and three East All-Region Teams are now eligible for the D3hockey.com All-American teams, which will be named later next week.
