WAVERLY, Iowa — As a freshman a year ago, Saint Mary's University of Minnesota's Morris Dennis (Elk River, Minn.) made his first appearance at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championships—and he will be the first to admit the magnitude of the event was a bit overwhelming.
 
Given a second chance at track and field's biggest stage, Dennis was determined to write a different ending this time around.

Dennis—who earned the final spot in the 20-man 400-meter field with his qualifying time of 48.10—finished 17^th overall in his second national championships appearance, clocking a time of 48.52.
