MENOMONIE, Wis. — The Saint Mary's University of Minnesota track and field teams were good in the their first indoor meet of the 2017 season last weekend.
They were even better in meet No. 2.
Molly Sweet led the way for the Cardinal women at Saturday's UW-Stout Open, placing first in the 3,000 with a time of 11:33.06, while
Maria Missurelli chipped in a second in the pole vault (3.04 meters), and
Becca Dup and Erica Thiel added thirds in the long jump (5.32 meters) and 3,000 (11:42.61).
On the men's side, Brandon Krogman recorded a fourth in the 800 (2:01.66), with Jacob Hagen-Erickson placing fifth in the long jump (5.97 meters) and Austin O'Hare posting a fifth in the mile (4:31.11) in the non-team-scored event.
Alicia Berkenes and
Maddie Bollig also posted top-10 finishes for the Cardinal women, placing sixth (2:35.18) and eighth (2:49.90), respectively, in the 800, while
Danielle Franke was ninth (5:44.42) and
Alyssa Thiel was 10
th (6:00.00) in the mile.
Dean Marlin chipped in a sixth on the men's side, recording a leap of 11.79 meters in the triple jump, and Sherman Moga and Andrew Allemann recorded 10
th-place showings in the 800 (2:06.44) and 400 (53.71), respectively.
The Cardinals are back on the track next Saturday, as Saint Mary's travels to River Falls, Wis., to take part in the UW-River Falls Winter Classic.
