WINONA, Minn. —
Becca Dup (Albert Lea, Minn.) entered the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships as the top-ranked long jumper in the conference.
The Saint Mary's University of Minnesota sophomore did not disappoint.
Dup uncorked a leap of 5.43 meters, just shy of her school-record effort of 5.53 meters recorded earlier this season, to win the event—and earn All-MIAC First-Team honors.
The awards continued to pile up for Dup on Monday, as the conference long jump champion landed U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region honors for the 2017 NCAA Division III indoor season.
And Dup wasn't the only Cardinal hauling in the post-season honor.
Jovan Newsum (Glendale Heights, Ill.)—fresh off an All-MIAC performance in the 5,000 at the MIAC Indoor Championships—also captured All-Region honors, after posting a school-record time of 15:04.16 during the indoor season.
To be named All-Region, an athlete must either be ranked in the top-5 of an individual event in the region according to final TFRRS data or be part of a top-3 relay team.
Dup delivered her all-region performance at the UW-Superior Border Battle, breaking her own school record in winning the event with a leap of 5.53 meters, while Newsum's all-region and school record-setting time of 15:04.16 came at the St. Thomas Showcase on Feb. 10.
