ST. PAUL, Minn. — With the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships right around the corner,
David Kemper seems to be in tip-top form.
For the second time in the last five days, the Saint Mary's University of Minnesota junior etched his name in the Cardinal track and field record books Wednesday evening, clearing 4.87 meters to place second in the pole vault at the Tommie Twilight at Concordia-St. Paul's Sea Foam Stadium.
Becca Dup continued her dominance in the jump events to pace the Cardinal women, placing first in both the long jump (5.35m) and triple jump (11.35m).
Austin O'Hare,
Kyle Lichttenegger,
Dean Marlin, and
Jovan Newsum also posted top-five performances for the Cardinal men, with O'Hare placing third in the 1,500 (3:57.92), Marlin adding a fourth in the triple jump (12.56m), Lichttenegger posting a fourth in the 100 (11.15), and Newsum placing fifth in the 1,500 (4:09.18).
Desmond Steward chipped in a sixth in the long jump (6.73m), while
Ryan Buchmeier recorded a sixth in the triple jump (11.52m), Lichttenegger added a 10
th in the long jump (6.54m),
Ben Borash finished 10
th in the 800 (2:00.45), and
Connor Nicholas and Ty Rommey added 12
th-place showings in the hammer (43.08m) and 400 (57.94), respectively.
Along with Dup's first-place double in the long and triple jumps,
Natalie King chipped in a fifth in the hammer (43.81),
Maria Missurelli added a fifth in the pole vault (3.29m), and
Kynzie Smedsrud placed seventh in the 100 hurdles (17.50).
The Cardinals will continue their busy week with athletes competing in the MIAC Multi-Events on Thursday and Friday in Northfield, Minn., while the remainder of the squad will head to St. Paul, Minn., on Saturday to take part in Hamline's Meet of the UnSaintly.
