9/3/2017 10:01:00 PM

HAM LAKE, Minn. — For the second day in a row, Juan Sanchez (Bogota, Columbia) proved to be the golfer to beat for the Saint Mary's University of Minnesota men's golf team, as the Cardinal sophomore led the way for the Cardinals for the second straight day at the Augsburg Invitational Sunday afternoon.

Sanchez, who carded seven-over-par 79 during Saturday's opening round, did that effort one better on Sunday, posting a six-over 78 to lead the Cardinals to a 641 finish and a 16th place team finish.

Along with Sanchez's 157, the Cardinals also got a 159 from Hunter Rau (Rushford, Minn. / 81-78), a 162 from Kyle Brodt (Roseville, Minn. / 81-81), a 165 from Owen Blakely (Elmhurst, Ill. / 81-84) and a 170 (88-92) from Bobby NcNaney (Mendota Heights, Minn.).

Bryce Galewski (Winona, Minn.), competing as one of three individuals for the Cardinals, shot the day's  best round with a 74 to equal Sanchez's 157 (83-74), while Tyler Dove (Hudson, Wis. / 78-80—158) and Blair Sanders (Lee's Summit , Mo. / 89-77—166) rounded out the Cardinals lineup.

Augsburg won its own tournament, shooting a 578 36-hole total (289-289)—seven shots in front of the University of Manitoba and St. Thomas—while Augsburg's  Harrison Cooper earned medalist honors with an eight-under 146 (71-65), three shots in front of Noah Bragg (69-70—139) of Bethel.

The Cardinals are back in action next weekend, heading to Randall Oaks Golf Course in West Dundee, Ill., to take part in the Carthage Tim Kopeka Invitational.
