WINONA, Minn. — Fans of the Saint Mary's University of Minnesota women's hockey team may have noticed a goal-scoring pattern from the Cardinals of late—a three goal pattern, to be exact.

Coming into Saturday's Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup against Concordia, the Cardinals had scored three goals in each of their previous three consecutive games.

Friday night, the three-goal threshold was not enough to defeat the Cobbers, as CC dealt the Cardinals a 6-3 setback at Saint Mary's Ice Arena.

Which left coach Greg Moore wondering heading in to Saturday's rematch—would the three-goal trend continue.

Continue it did, thanks to a pair of goals by Bailey Wendt (Coon Rapids, Minn.)—and a very timely first collegiate goal by Delaney Wolf (Bismarck, N.D.).

And this time, three goals was enough for a Cardinal win, as Saint Mary's topped the Cobbers 3-2 at Saint Mary's Ice Arena, earning a MIAC split with Concordia.

The first period was uncharacteristically quiet, with neither team able to break through offensively. The Cardinals had 11 first-period shots, while holding the Cobbers to 10.

The Cobbers would be the first to break the scoreless deadlock, putting themselves on the board with a shot by Maddie Ellingson at 7:48 of the second period.

Far from becoming disheartened, the Cardinals answered back less than three minutes later. Wendt buried her seventh of the year off a pass from Courtney Moser (Blaine, Minn.) at 10:42 of the second period to make it a 1-1 game.

The Cobbers regained the lead, as Tori Davis snuck a shot past Cardinal goaltender Ashley Corcoran (Red Wing, Minn.) less than a minute into a Concordia power play, putting CC ahead 2-1 heading into the second intermission.

Wendt and the Cardinals, however, weren't finished.

Wendt lasered her second of the game, this time on the power play, past Cobber goaltender Amy Jost at 5:13 of the third period off an assist by Jesse Cwik (Chicago, Ill.) to knot the game at 2-2.

And set up Wolf's

The Cardinals reached the magic third goal mark—and Wolf iced collegiate goal No. 1—with Saint Mary's second power play goal of the period at 13:27 to give SMU the lead for good.

Corcoran finished with 30 saves on 32 shots for Saint Mary's, while Jost stopped 19 of the Cardinals' 22 shots.

The Cardinals (4-4-0 MIAC, 7-8-0 overall) continue their MIAC slate next weekend, as they take on St. Catherine in a home-and-home series. Game one is slated for a 7 p.m. start Friday at the Saint Mary's Ice Arena.
